Art Camp 2: Surreal Room

We learned about Rene Magritte, a great surrealist artist, and looked at this specific work, called Personal Values. We talked about how he uses ordinary objects to make us see things differently.

Procedure after discussion:

1. After discussion, we drew a room and some furniture together.
Many students were amazed to see how they could actually drew a room with perspective.
2. Once we finished drawing, we painted the room with watercolor.
3. Students need to find 5+ images from magazines. I specifically asked them to cut very nicely.
4. After I checked their selections, they could glue the cut-outs on the work.
